SOUTHPORT BEACH
Welcome to the website where real facts and pictures tell the truth about parts of our main beach.
The beach flag award which cost Sefton Council £600, seems strangely out of place fluttering proudly over our mud-strewn and grassy beach and long gone is the time when it used to be the golden sands of Southport. Sefton gives a high priority to achieving three Seaside Awards for the Boroughs bathing beaches and entering for Blue Flag in 2006. They also want to "adopt a new coastal brand" and continue their relentless abolition of Southport's very identity. We reckon the cost would be far better spent on clearing up the current mess.
The so-called beach right next to the Traumatizer on Pleasureland is covered with grass, mud and rubble.
Looking across to the pier you can see mud-filled gullies. Walking on this is dangerous for adults, even more so for children.
Easy to see here how far out to sea this marshland and thick, slimy mud extends across what used to be our golden sands.
We doubt that these 2 will be too happy about the making any sandcastles anywhere near the car park at Weld Road.
Would you like to play "fetch" with your dog on this piece of beach?
This disgusting mud and rubble covering the entire beach between Weld Road and Pleasureland should be mechanically removed and the debris used as a base material to build up the depleted sandhills near the Weld Rd, Birkdale beach entrance.
Our Southport Party beach campaigners have been urging this type of restoration for many years where 2 jobs can be completed for the price of one.
