| 13th May2005 | Voting Scam N° 15 |
| The British voting system has now been shown to have sunk to such a low level that our party is seriously thinking of running a competition to see how many more political voting scams our readers can find in the current postal/polling station fiasco. Having already reached the standard of banana republicanism recently identified by a member of our judiciary, has the British method of electing our local and national representatives now descended to a new subterranean level? For even with the option of voting by post or using the more traditional polling station procedure, proof of the voter’s identity still appears not to be currently required. For instance, if you forget to take your voting card, you merely need to give your name and address to the polling clerk to be allowed to vote without any documentary proof of identity. All parties are allowed to ask you for your card number at the door of the polling station and many people unwittingly give it to them. This can lead to too much information being obtained by political activists which then disappears into their databases. In the current voting climate we should be concerned about this form of activity. Finally, if anyone has any further knowledge of voting scams, please notify: The Electoral Commission, Trevelyan House, Great Peter Street, London, SW1P 2HW, who are constantly trying to alert the Government to this appalling political morass, where even the votes of those who have chosen not to vote over many years can be hijacked and used by the unscrupulous as proof of identity is not currently a legal requirement. | |
