With the Blair Government already on the rack over Iraq, are we now seeing a ‘cosy’ arrangement being put in place in key marginal seats by the sudden request of up to a 500% increase in postal vote applications? This appears to be their WATERGATE attempt to cling on to power during the final days of their administration.
Only the continuance of investigative journalism can reveal the truth about the terrible ‘smell’ currently rising from British politics – a smell that comes from a need to EVEN break the law if necessary, whilst trying to hang on to office and power thus touching all of our lives in some way.
In the 1970’s The Washington Post, through their intrepid reporters, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, unearthed a similar power-clinging plot that finally forced President Richard Nixon to resign or face impeachment after this all came to light during the massive investigation. This piece of journalism eventually restored America ’s true democratic process out of the hands of some power hungry politicians and their staff.
The Southport Party has always supported a free press that provides the necessary checks and balances to expose any out-of-control ambitions threatening our own British democratic system. Currently this threat is REAL and has been highlighted by an eminent high court judge and the Electoral Commission who forewarned the Government about the voting abuses that could appear in their drive for QUANTITY rather than SECURITY and QUALITY .
